The Great Smoky Mountain National Park is filled with intrigue and interesting places to go. Once you have rented your Jeep, you may wonder which direction you want to go to experience the awesome things to do in the Smoky Mountains. We often like to point out some of the lesser traveled areas for you to consider for an activity filled day with lesser traffic around you.

Approximately 12 miles from your pick up location is Greenbrier in Gatlinburg. Greenbrier is an area in Gatlinburg located out Hwy 321 East on your way to Cosby, Tennessee. Greenbrier is known for it’s wildflowers, picnic areas, walking trails and fishing. Greenbrier is the home to the trailhead for Ramsey Cascade. One is for Ramsey Cascades which is a local’s favorite hike. The Ramsey Cascades are the tallest waterfall in the park and is a 4 mile hike from the trailhead. Anglers will find Greenbrier to be a wonderful discovery. Pack your poles and be sure you have your Tennessee or North Carolina fishing license and spend some time fishing in one of the most beautiful areas of the Smokies.

Once you have visited Greenbrier it is time to hop in your Jeep and travel further to Cosby, Tennessee. Cosby is located 23 miles from Gatlinburg and is known for its quiet and campground in the Park. There is a picnic area open year round. There are 2 walkways that are perfect for a morning or afternoon hike. Hen Wallow Falls is 2.1 miles from the Picnic Area, and the Sutton Ridge Overlook is a short 1.4 miles and a great combination with a Jeep Adventure.

From this area there are many directions one would consider traveling. In Cosby you can connect to the Blue Ridge Parkway, continue on to the interstate and head in the the North Carolina areas of Waynesville and Asheville.

If you have questions about the fun things to discover in the area we welcome them! We are here to make sure your Jeep Adventure is the best it can be.
