This drive will take you past Chimney Tops and Newfound Gap and over the Smoky Mountains to the Cataloochee area of North Carolina. See how Cherokee has changed and developed over the years with many shops and craft areas to stop and see. As you venture on to the Maggie Valley and Waynesville area you will climb through the hills of North Carolina through beautiful scenery and then find these small communities as a different atmosphere than what Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge and area offer. You will spend the day to go to Waynesville and Maggie Valley and back. It will be a day full of adventure.
Townsend Tennessee
What a treasure Townsend, Tennessee is. Just 15 miles from our Smoky Mountain Jeep Rentals office, Townsend offers a treasure trove of outdoor experiences and adventure. Find Cades Cove and drive the 11 mile loop, discover the Townsend Wye and get wet, maybe you would like to try some tubing. Townsend is the type of tourist town you will fall in love with and we can highly recommend spending a day in your Jeep in Townsend, TN. Known as the Quiet Side of the Smokies, you will also find shopping, dining and attractions of interest to the entire family.
Douglas Lake
Take a drive around the lake and see Douglas Dam and how the lake was created as part of the TVA system. In the summer season the lake is high and there are many marinas and boats on the lake. Discover some public areas by the Dam, or stop for a bite or refreshment and enjoy the lake scenery. Dandridge is the 2nd oldest town in Tennessee and offers some intriguing opportunities for Mom and Pop shopping and dining. Have a bite at the Drug Store downtown and do some antique shopping. Douglas Lake and the Dandridge area is a great one day trip all around East Tennessee and just 40 minutes from the downtown Pigeon Forge area.
