4th of July in the Smokies 2019

Do you love the 4th of July holiday in the Smokies? Do you enjoy the idea of fireworks blowing up overhead at Patriot Park, downtown Gatlinburg and throughout the mountains by our residents? Do you enjoy Midnight 4th of July parades and River Raft Regattas? How about day-long festivals at big public parks with music, fun for the family and more featured? If you said yes to all of these questions, or any of them, or any questions we haven’t yet asked, you definitely should make plans to come to the Smokies for the 4th of July! This is a high traffic event time, but the reason for that is simple – it’s worth the journey. High traffic also means the closer it gets to the date in question, the harder it is to find luxury accommodations near the event fun, but Summit Cabin rentals is proud to showcase these […]

Spring Rod Run

The cars are already coming into town and we all know what that means – the Spring Rod Run for 2019 is beginning in the Smokies! From April 11th to the 13th for 2019, Pigeon Forge will have its first Rod Run of the year. If you’re unfamiliar with the Rod Runs of Pigeon Forge, imagine the entire downtown parkway from one end to the other becoming a huge show for incredible, immaculate vehicles ranging from restored classic automobiles to wild modern concoctions of custom auto parts and everything in-between. It’s as famous for its traffic as it is for its fun and energy, but if there’s ever a time to have fun while being in traffic, the Rod Run is it. From the Rod Run website is the following: Wow, that’s a heck of a lot of awesome info, as right as I’m about to write about Erik Estrada’s […]

Smoky Mountains Newfound Gap

The most popular drive through the park is Newfound Gap Road, which is 26 miles long and crosses the park to the southeast. It begins at Sugarlands which is at an elevation of 1,436 feet, it rises to more than 5,000 feet above sea level at Newfound Gap. The road descends down to 3,000 feet to Oconaluftee Visitors Center at the main entrance to the park from North Carolina. Oconaluftee Visitors Center is also a treasure trove of information and the adjacent Mountain Farm Museum will introduce the visitor to the rural heritage of the early settlers. Newfound Gap Road is a gradually unfolding botanical journey that spans the five vegetation zones a traveler would encounter if traveling the hundreds of miles to Maine. There are scenic overlooks along the way, roadside exhibits, and trailheads for the hikers. At Newfound Gap visitors can look for miles over waves of rolling […]

Cades Cove and Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail

Other motor trails exist for the “armchair” visitor. The most famous is the Cades Cove Loop, which is also a historical tour of those who settled in the valley. Northeast of Gatlinburg off Rte. 321 is the Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail Loop which takes you up the western flank of Mt. LeConte. This paved, narrow, winding jewel of a road fords streams and cuts across a deep gorge. It is closed during the winter and at all times to buses, trailers, and RV’s. At the visitor centers you can also find out how to get to the various dirt roads that will take you further back into the mountains and off the beaten path. A trip to the Smoky Mountains is not complete with out a visit to Cades Cove and the Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail. Do it in a Jeep! Smoky Mountain Jeep Rentals, Gatlinburg Jeep Rentals […]

Experience Little River Road

Little River Road is practically a magical experience when in your Smoky Mountain Jeep Rental! From the Townsend “Wye” to the “Sinks” some of the more Quiet Side of the Smokies locations can be found on Little River Road. Near our office is Metcalf Bottoms entrance to the National Park which then leads you to Little River Road. Turn right and experience Townsend, Tennessee and Cades Cove, turn left and land in the Gatlinburg area of the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. Laurel Falls The moderate 2.6 mile trail to Laurel Falls is one of the Park’s most traveled. The trail divides the waterfall in two. At the top, Laurel Branch bursts from a grove of rhododendron, or “laurel” as it was called by early settlers, and falls nearly 50 feet to collect in a pool perfect for soaking tired feet. The falls continues on from that pool for about […]
